Tomato Cage Christmas Tree
Hey everyone! I thought I would share with you my newest creation that I made for someone at work! I posted this on snapchat and my phone was blowing up with how to make it so here is a step by step tutorial for this simple and cool deco mesh tree!
What you will need (cat is optional lol):
Tomato Cage (I got a 54 inch one from Walmart for around $6) Deco Mesh (I needed three rolls for the size of tomato cage I got/ found at Hobby Lobby) Bow or Star for top of the tree (Walmart/Hobby Lobby) Basket to put tree in (Found mine that fits perfectly at Hobby Lobby) Twine or String Scissors Lights of any color (I got a box of 100 white lights and it was plenty)
Step 1:Wrap the twine/string around the top of the tomato cage and tie it so that the stakes stay together.
Step 2: Wrap the lights (keeping the plug towards the bottom) and wrap around the cage until you reach the bottom of it. Make sure you leave some of the bottom strand out to be able to plug in the tree.
Step 3:Fold both ends of the mesh towards each other to make a "tube" shape and tie the end to the top of the tree with the twine.
Step 4:Begin wrapping the mesh around the tree and synching and tying it off (with a small piece of twine) on every other vertical bar of the cage. Fold the mesh to create the look you want. I made the pieces at the bottom bigger/fuller to create the illusion that the tree was getting larger at the bottom
Step 5:Trim the pieces of twine and fluff the tree so that it is harder to see the twine poking through
Step 6:Place the tree in the basket and put newspaper of more mesh in the bottom to balance it out.
Step 7:Plug it in, step back, and enjoy your simple & beautiful creation!!
